Knot Theory is part of mathematical Topology which is part of Differential Geometry.

I have a friend who has a PhD in differential Geometry from Cal Berkeley and he was telling me several years ago that Blockchain was the weak link in Cryptocurrency.

The original person who started what became Bitcoin. He was brilliant and wrote about Quantum Physics - his brother who was my friend graduated in 3 years from the University of Texas at Austin with a MS in Physics and then a PhD in Plasma Physics from Caltech. He expressed concerned about blockchain many years ago.
