Tesla, Mexico in talks on new Gigafactory but no deal yet: state official
Nuevo Leon builds special lane for the EV maker for quick shipments to U.S.

Tesla's potential investment in Nuevo Leon "is similar to all the other companies considering investment in the state," said Loo. "We want to provide as much information as possible to all the companies to make their best decisions."

"If companies are considering investment in Mexico, I think Nuevo Leon is the best place," he added.

Nuevo Leon is also looking to attract Tesla suppliers as well, Loo said, given the state's proximity to the U.S. border. Government filings show that Tesla is planning to spend $770 million on expanding the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, which went into operation last year.
