For the government of Albania we’re preparing risk assessment and management strategies for the Buna and Drini Rivers, aimed at reducing economic, social, and environmental losses. Our study, funded by the World Bank, is creating hydrological and hydraulic models that will be used to test a range of flood mitigation options and select the most economically beneficial solutions.

For the Ministry of Agriculture we carried out a technical evaluation of the condition and safety of 195 earth fill dams, including a portfolio risk assessment and investment planning. We developed dam break analysis and flood inundation mapping in addition to producing emergency action plans.

The World Bank has appointed us to study the economic feasibility of constructing 14 new agricultural dams. Farming contributes 18% of Albania’s gross domestic product and provides 50% of the country’s employment. We will develop engineering designs for dams offering clear economic benefit.
