There is no greater proof that the Republican base has no goddamn sense than Mitch McConnell’s consistently dismal approval rating from voters of his own party; the man is absolute ghoul, yes, and certainly he projects little folksy warmth, but he puts Ws on the board. Big ones. More than anybody I’ve ever seen.

The bitter truth is, Mamma McConnell’s favorite tadpole is real, real fucking good at his job; regrettably that job is to acquire and wield power on behalf of the Republican Party. Why yes, the very Republican Party whose flirtations with fascism have the nation teetering on the precipice of some extremely dark shit. You see the problem.

“Well, c’mon, Cap, how good can this McConnell fella really be? He’s just lil’ old guy! He’d almost be cute if he wasn’t so obviously dead inside.”

Yeah, you’re right. Motherfucker only broke the motherfucking Senate, damn near single-handed. Only stole a whole-ass Supreme Court seat. Stole it, rubbed his ass all over it, and handed it, all wrapped up nice n’ pretty, to Donald fucking Trump.

Let’s just say the gentleman from Kentucky has staked out a rather extreme position in the party-over-country debate. Hoping to “make (Obama) a one-term president,” Mitch suddenly decided his job was to make the nation as ungovernable as his substantial powers would allow, to keep Democrats from helping people wherever possible; to prevent the majority from ruling whensoever the majority failed to include himself.

It was certainly a revolutionary approach to governance…hurting the public on purpose, hoping they’ll blame Democrats and return you to power…but you have to understand how much Mitch covets what he’s lost when he’s merely Minority Leader; it’s a phantom flipper clawing incessantly at a mind that thinks of little beyond power for its own sake.

And that’s the thing, everything I’ve ever read about this bizarre, world-wrecking little man suggests he’s not particularly ideological. You get the sense he’s uninterested in the specifics of the policies he implements, he’s just this unfeeling power-accumulating machine.

But a tremendously, tragically efficient machine, one must admit, and wowie zowie, what a shitty bit of luck that his career happened to coincide with Dr. Dotard’s Fashy Washington Holiday. Theirs was a super-villain team-up that truly pissed directly down American history’s throat.

Understand, Mitch McConnell is the man who could’ve stopped Donald Trump’s rampage. Any time he wanted to. Coulda dialed up Chuck Schumer, on a rotary phone, said, “enough is enough, let’s figure out the most palatable of the litany of available impeachable offenses, and get Pence behind the Resolute before anybody else dies.”

But he never did. Because he doesn’t care if the President betrays our allies and grovels before our enemies, or lies tens of thousands into early graves during a catastrophic pandemic, or even provokes a violent attack on Congress itself, so long as he dutifully fills the courts with the Federalist Society’s seemingly limitless supply of well-trained bureaucrats.

Sweet Tittyfucking Christ, Mitch McConnell loves his judges! Even the makers of the Klondike bar would be shocked at the shit Mitch has proven willing to pull, in order to keep on stocking the judiciary.

Well, Yertle got his judges, and Hairplug Himmler got the space to run wild. What a bargain! Now Anti-Choicey Barrett and her drunken frat bro pal giddily pluck away the wretched plebes’ rights, one by one, and all it cost was violent white nationalism taking root on American soil.
