RE your one month CD's etc. My automatic cash sweep vehicle at Schwab, MM fund SWVXX, has a seven day yield of 4.27%. TDA, even thought its merging into Schwab, doesn't allow you to sweep cash automatically into SWVXX (unless they changed there rules recently) but you can buy and sell it at TDA as often as you'd like.
