It's all a matter of relativity & perspective imo.

As we are no at the same place we were 13 years ago R&D speaking imo.
I think that there are only few companys that can produce many tens of Kilos of
spidersilk at that quality.

Yes many thought it would take much less time than it took , but so did the other companys at this run to the finish line.
And as you pointed out , the finish line is still up a head in so many ways..
