I doubt that radiogel will be used on first time thyroid cancer patients. The current method of calculating and administering NaI is very effective. I expect the radiogel will come into play when the thyroid cancer has a recurrence and has when spread to other areas such as the lymph nodes. It's my understanding that they will be using it to treat the thyroid cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes in the neck.

Using ultra sound to inject radiogel directly into the thyroid would be a much more laborious process than having someone step into the lab for a couple of minutes and having them swallow a NaI capsule and out the door.

Demonstrating successful use on the small lymph nodes will open up potential use on all those other cancer types previously listed.
