I came across a great introduction to THCV from a recent newsletter from the folks over at the Green Bridge Society and wanted to share. The more we know and share, the stronger we as a community shall grow!

"THCV is a relatively common minor cannabinoid often found in higher concentrations in South African strains, like the classic Durban Poison. THCV is a chemical analogue of THC, but it demonstrates significantly different effects. THCV is a CB1 antagonist at lower doses, which may limit some of the effects of co-administered THC. At higher doses, THCV is a CB1 agonist. In animal studies, THCV produced weight loss, decreased body fat and serum leptin concentrations, and increased energy expenditure.
GW Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of Epidiolex (a CBD prescription medication) has conducted clinical trials on 5 mg of oral THCV. In these trials, THCV significantly reduced fasting blood glucose concentrations and improved ß-cell function.  THCV could prove to be a treatment for lowering blood glucose levels in Type-II diabetes. Patients often report a decrease in appetite with products higher in THCV."
