do companies often do this? never heard the term "retire" shares... does that mean they are blotted out from the OS through the SEC or are they "put back on the shelf" meaning they could re issue them at a later time ?

whatever happens if we the shareholders are to accrue any type of wealth they need to do SOMETHING about the share structure
