depends on the year, the storms, coyotes, rustling, neighbors poisoning them, etc....
lost 8 a couple winters ago to a bad feed supplement product...
This year...
Lost one calf to a vehicle hitting it earlier....
two to coyotes....coyotes went bye-bye....
one to unknown reasons...

normally without the BS....didn't lose any...or maybe one to a cow killer storm
that would get a calf I couldn't get to or before I got to it......

one guy up in NW- CO where wolves had made their way down
where they introduced more
lost 22 calves over night....wolves were on a killing spree
they were just ripped to pieces and left there......
and he can't shoot the wolves.......guvmint is crawling up his ass.....
and would jail and fine him in a heartbeat
and the compensation.......is total and complete bullshit....
when a rancher can get it.......
