in the midst of this current commie government plus a realist/pragmatist in that he secretly knows that if Chile does not officially/overtly (politically and militarily) align its Lithium-Self very-very soon with Whitey America (or Whitey Europe) that Chile's lithium will be ugly ripped away by brute forces (eg Chinese Yellow Silk Road Initiative or Russian Reds using Venezuela/Cuba/Bolivia foot soldiers) that wimpy lopsidedly-gay Chile could never repel/resist next year hence his (Marcel's) op-ed clarion call today for this leftist government to pull the rag out ofitsass and solidify the new/revised mining taxes on lithium at the very absolute latest by April/May and the whole Royalty clusterfock/debacle by November 2023 with the close of Constitution Rewrite 2.0.
Finance Minister Mario Marcel more so than any other person in Chile also knows empirically Codelco is existentially only hanging on to its position simply by a hair and could easily go belly-up in 2023 if it does not quickly expand copper exploration (pulling rank and side-stepping increased government/environmental oversight) with a greater percentage of "boots-on-the-ground" (ie making a higher profit percentage) involvement and mineral mining "diversify" (eg lithium, cobalt) which he wants to encourage but can not outright demand realistically knowing Codelco will never get "friendly" enough to buy or JV with any of the Top 3 junior lithium miners out of the 17 registered in Chile (under SQM or Albemarle in size)... but Codelco could certainly make a good play on the remaining 14 junior lithium miners in Chile and make some seriously good money in the later half of this decade if they can simply consolidate half a dozen of those junior miner brine mining operations and run (truck) their raw ore (ie chloride) into one central lithium refinery (costing probably no more than US $400,000,000) on the setup/scale like the centralized Ventanas Copper refinery.
If you are trying to read between the lines in Finance Minister Mario Marcel opinion-editorial today then I would venture to say he is simply shrewdly beating deal-killing party-killing ice-cold-shower Anti-Mining Minister Marcela Hernando to the punch by laying the groundwork going on record for his future endorsement of a private-investment Whitey or American-related takeover of the #3 or #4 lithium miner (ie behind SQM & Albemarle) to run their operation in "healthy parallel" to any current or future heavily state-sponsored lithium miner(s).
If you are not trying to read between the lines in Finance Minister Mario Marcel opinion-editorial today... then the story is one more sad year of us dead in water goingfocking nowhere paddling in circles whilst the focking beaners running this juvenile-Marxist-fad government continue stupidly pulling on their pugs doing nothing after hearing Minister's Marcel's wise words of advice that have gone in one ear and out the other.
