I am not exactly sure who else is selling this pocket surfer. I am almost positive that there are protected territories or markets for anyone who DataWind brings aboard as a partner Distributor).
According to the articles I read, Edgetech signed an agreement last year with the Miami Heat (NBA) which I assusme means they have some type of advertising space in the basketball arena. Century 21 Real Estate has purchased from them, they gave some units away as a promotion at the MTV awards. In addition, they have supposedly hooked up with some star NBA and NFL players, as well as Lou Pearlman and his network of businesses. They pushed the unit at The CES show in Vegas and thy were suppose to be at the Int'l Film Festival in Utah. To me it appears that they are trying to market certain industries and hopefully sell in quantity as opposed to the individual ma or pa who want one for home use. Whether it's their strategy or because it is part of their agreement with DataWind, I do not know.
They are also attemping to invade Russia with this thing, and according to press releases they are in final negotiations with four 5,000 unit contracts, for whatever that's worth.
DataWind has unveiled the pocket surfer 2 in Spain and Canada and in the spring they are hitting the UK. Whether they are actually trying to sell it or drum up Distributor's in these counties, I am not exactly sure.
As of yet, I have not heard of anyone else trying to sell the "Edge". Three years ago DataWind came out with the unit, and it supposedly didn't sell. I wonder how well and how hard they tried to market it, and to whom ? I heard they are sold on e-bay, but there is a big difference finding and buying something on line, as opposed to seeing it first hand and having a voice to talk too!
I am in the same boat as everyone else, I own about 7,700 shares @ .79. Translated, I am down about 3K. I keep my fingers crossed everyday hoping something will pop! It is frustrating because of the lack of news, and lack of news leads to lack of shareholder confidence. Hopefully WTRB close contact is correct and news will be out shortly ! Hopefully good news about sales.
My mom left for Florida this morning. Hell, if I thought about it I would of borrowed WRTB unit and had my mom test it in in-flight. We would of had results by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
