I believe the "anomalies" or "blobs" on that map became known upon drilling and not before drilling, because I hadn't seen any maps indicating those anomalies before the drilling occurred.

Hence, I don't think that they "on purpose" drilled on the edge of the anomaly when they commenced drilling. It just so happens they realized that they did after the fact with the data from the drilling itself... hence the comments that the petroleum system appears to be wider and deeper.

Such an assessment can only be ascertained by combining the known seismic with the new data from the actual drilling and with the discovery of thin oil.

But I'm not a geologist, so it's possible I'm mistaken on this one.

But any way you slice it or dice it, those blobs are ginormous given the immense size of those blocks.
