Returning to a previous discussion, in light of the new roadmap which shows a 90nm Athlon, I ask those in the design know what is incrementally involved in adding 64 bit extensions to the Athlon? In my opinion, if this is trivial and adds little to the die, why wouldn't AMD do this? It would promote the AMD64 everywhere strategy, particularly in the emerging markets where the Athlon chip will be targeted.
