Looks like a prelude to him pleading guilty and hoping to keep his potential prison time less than if he went to trial and is convicted of the 5 felonies, plus the massive sentencing enhancements possible due to possession of a prohibited weapon and prohibited ammunition (by a previously-convicted felon).
He already has a long track record of being violent to women and children.
