This has nothing to do with Kim really.
Kings is looking for a blend. They need to get a sample made by the actual reelers and weavers that will be producing their product.

Since our silk is a direct drop in replacement they can use mundane silk in the blend for samples and not waste the spidersilk.
Those samples will be made into the first garment prototype to see that the blend lives up to expectations of the designer.

If the designer approves then they would drop in our silk and make a large run of fabric for the first full production run.
I would guess that would be predominantly black and white fabric for costs.

IMO Kim is sitting on a good load of silk fiber waiting on the ok or in the process of producing the full run.
