The debate about the port of Durrës continued today in the parliamentary commissions . The opposition declares that the government is selling a part of Albania with this project. But, for the majority, these are empty accusations, since the development of this port will change the image of the country.

The port of Durrës will become and transform the coastal city into one of the main ports of the Mediterranean. With this argument, the government says that this is an investment that changes the image of Albania.

"It is expected that there will be 12 thousand employees. The hotels are expected to be 5 and 4 stars. The number of rooms goes up to 850" - said Balluku.

But for the opposition, the question marks are big, since the national interest is sold to an investor, who was given a contract without competition.

"Why not also identify some of the big global investors. You positioned yourself as the protector of the interest of Alabar's private investor. You will have to protect the interest of the Albanians" - said Aliebaj.

In response, Balluku said that there is no need to make a presentation to the investor Muhamed Alabar, adding that he comes to Albania because he sees here as a safe place for investment.

Debates on the port of Durrës have started for several days in the assembly, while the parliament is expected to vote on this contract on November 24.
