It would be difficult for them to avoid the "distraction factor." Integrating two companies with different cultures is very difficult. I imagine the prior ATI employees are probably the ones making compromises to fit into the AMD culture, but that's the soft stuff. From a technical and business perspective, AMD's now responsible for future discrete and integrated GPU designs. Additionally, AMD now has to manage the foundry suppliers ATI brought with them. It's not going to be easy.
