All you need is to swipe a valid fingerprint across the sensor in order to activate the deadbolt. Depending on how many people you have living in the house, the SmartScan system is capable of storing and recognizing up to 50 user fingerprints, including a special timed "lock out feature" which opens up a trio of access options to homeowners.
