Plaintiffs are "formally" requesting $1.6b in damages, but are highlighting repeatedly they paid $33b for the jr pfds at issuance, have received $5b of dividends to date, and have been zeroed out/lost the value on their remaining $28b.

Good. The jury can award damages beyond what the plaintiffs ask for. If the plaintiffs can get the defendants to start harping on the $1.6B number, rather than constantly saying that no relief should be available, half the battle is won.
