I replied to BMT on Reddit. Look at the October 6th PR. BMT is the trial expert and I believe in his take. It is very clear however that the two symptom reduction end point as unconventional as it may be came directly from discussions with the FDA themselves. All of the experts certainly had never seen many things that have come to pass around approvals during this pandemic. Take Merck’s Molnupiravir for instance there were no experts that thought they had a chance at an EUA with its extremely low efficacy and safety concerns because of the possible mutagenic properties for healthy cells. The world is desperate for some solutions and the WHO, FDA along with others are out of options.
