New York City taxpayers will be glad to know they’ll be forking over an extra $1 Billion, to care for incoming immigrants.

That’s the least the city’s socialist citizens can do, after being so insistent on promising “sanctuary” benefits to half the world. On Friday, Eric Adams formally declared a state of emergency because their social safety net can’t cope with the extra couple thousand.

As one busload of immigrants after another arrive in New York City, Mayor Eric Adams is scrambling to cope with the extra mouths to feed. They aren’t allowed to go to work for at least six months, so have to be provided with everything they need.

Joe Biden didn’t mention that when he threw the border gates wide open.

That’s why the migrants were supposed to be entirely the problem of Texas and Arizona.

Adams is begging for “legislation to shorten the mandatory waiting period for work papers for the migrants. The wait period is currently six months, a requirement that essentially forces the arrivals into the city’s shelter system and social-safety net for an extended period of time.”

Mayor Adams made another big speech in front of City Hall to declare offering sanctuary didn’t mean they were inviting immigrants.

They belong in Kamala’s back yard, not his. The recent influx of migrants has “stretched the city’s social-safety net to its breaking point and pushed its shelter population to an all-time high.”

All the buses of immigrants have created a “crisis situation,” he alerted. “This is a humanitarian crisis that started with violence and instability in South America, and it’s being accelerated by American political dynamics.” Greg Abbott is making him a laughingstock.

“This crisis is not of our own making, but one that will affect everyone in this city now and in the months ahead.”

City officials are going spastic trying to find Venezuelan interpreters to explain to immigrants why their families need to sleep on the floor.

They keep complaining that things in New York aren’t any better than the brutal dictatorship and economic collapse they left behind. To date, over “61,000 people are now in city shelters, a near-record that officials say they will shortly exceed.”

To keep up with the overflow of immigrants, “Officials are renting rooms in more than 40 hotels across the city.” After they get a place to crash for a night or two, “Arriving families have enrolled 5,500 new students in New York City’s public schools, a jump from the previous tally of 3,200.”
