Here is what I pulled the trigger on today in a big way:

<<Kenrich-Eskay Mining Corp. [KRE.V-TSX] is gearing up for its 2003 exploration program at the Corey gold-silver prospect located in the Unuk Valley about 70 km north of Stewart, northwest British Columbia.

This area was the scene of a major gold-silver discovery by Stikine Resources (Ron Netolitzky) and Calpine Resources (Murray Pezim) back in 1989, now the producing Eskay Creek Mine, is one of the richest mines in the world.

Currently owned by Barrick Gold Corp. after its merger with Homestake, the Eskay Creek Mine is the fifth largest silver producer in the world, having produced 104.7 million ounces of silver and 2.25 million ounces of gold by the end of 2002. The deposit also hosts 3.2% lead, 5.2% zinc and 0.7% copper. When first discovered, the Eskay Creek ground yielded spectacular assays including drill hole 109 that returned 0.875 oz.gold/ton over 208 metres. As of January 2001, proven and probable reserves were estimated to be 1.42 million tonnes grading 1.50 oz.gold/ton and 68.3 oz.silver/tonne.

These facts are of great importance to the exploration of the Corey project as the 32 Kenrich-Eskay Mining claims are just seven km distant, along strike and in the same geological environment (stratigraphic units) as the Eskay Creek Mine.

Since acquiring a 100% interest in the Corey property in 1995, Kenrich-Eskay Mining has discovered multiple zones of Eskay-type mineralization, namely the Bench, Battlement, Cumberland, GFJ and HSOV showings. Actually, this is not surprising as these types of mineral deposits are found in clusters. For example, at Rouyn-Noranda, northern Quebec, there are some 100 similar deposits, which led to the building of 50 separate mines.

Trenching on the HSOV Showing (pictured above) at the Corey gold-silver project north of Stewart, British Columbia. The jack hammer is used to drill small holes which are filled with dynamite. After blasting, the broken rocks are sent for assay.

Kenrich-Eskay Mining has an agreement to utilize the Eskay-Creek mine site as a staging area for its own exploration programs. This has substantially reduced earlier helicopter costs and provides a nearby convenient site that is road-accessible from the south.

During 1995, about $1.6 million was spent of the Corey property that included detailed mapping, sampling and geophysical surveys that resulted in the discovery of three significant gold-bearing quartz-sulphide veins – Sheelagh Creek, CB and TM, as well as the HSOV Showing. A grab sample from the TM Showing yielded 1.23 oz.gold/ton (42.10 grams/tonne). Assays from Sheelagh Creek have returned trench samples grading up to 1.79 oz.gold/ton and 3.19 oz.silver/ton. This work was followed by another $1.6 million program in 1996 that included eight drill holes on the Bench Zone, five drill holes on the Cumberland and three drill holes on the Sheelagh Creek Showing. Previous assays from the Cumberland Zone have included 0.272 oz.gold/ton, 2.67 oz.silver/ton, 9.8% zinc, 2.7% lead and 0.45% copper. Smaller exploration programs have taken place in the intervening years.

There are at least 20 partially explored zones of mineralization on the Corey property representing various types of deposits, including volcanogenic sulphide, skarn, porphyry, shear and fissure-veins. The main Eskay Creek type of mineral deposit is a shallow, sub-aqueous hot spring deposit, recognized as an important new class of sub-marine mineral deposit. In other words, the ore zone formed through hydrothermal exhalations known as “black smokers” on an ancient sea floor, a process that is still going on off the west coast of North America. The metals that are spewed out fall to the floor of the ocean, building up in layers, as can be seen in the rock units at the Eskay Creek Mine.

Wally Boguski, president, says the exploration program for 2003, budgeted between $400,000 and $500,000, is expected to start in May and will include geological mapping, surface trenching of the HSOV, the GFJ and the Cumberland South zones. This work will define specific targets for a diamond drilling program, expected to start sometime in August.

Kenrich-Eskay Mining is also exploring two nickel, copper and platinum group metals prospects, the Langmuir South and Eldorado Triple Crown, near Timmins, northern Ontario where drilling is currently underway. The company is earning a 70% interest from Starfire Minerals Inc. [SFR.V-TSX] Assays are pending from the Eldorado Triple Crown. As of early April, one drill hole has been completed on the Langmuir South property and is being logged in preparation for assay>>

I understand they are close to being drill ready at this point.
