Very_interesting article_on Automakers_jumping straight_into lithium mining
https://www.metaltechnews.com/story/2022/09/12/critical-minerals-alliances-2022/automakers-move-into-lithium-mining-space/1070.html

I found it interesting the statistic that Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada (an approximately 30GWh factory) needs 5,000mt of battery grade lithium per year (apparently according to Elon's magic formula) which means our yearly output of 15,200mtpa (assayed at 99.6% purity qualifying as battery grade) would then provide for three of these Tesla Gigafactories (see paragraph 13). At that ratio automakers with enough combined Gigafactories to produce 1,000GWh (or 1TWh) of batteries per year would then need 165,000mtpa of mined battery grade lithium to survive. Let's all repeat this factoid now... and memorize this ratio. Someday when we are talking to some really hot chicks in a bar and the topic of lithium should pop up as in "I drive a $250,000 electric Mercedes Benz powered by lithium batteries and it is parked just outside this pick-up bar (or brothel)" we can then next throw-out this ratio statistic and sound very very smart/cool like we are from the Wharton School of Business..
