That those two long tubes in the picture in Jim’s PR are the rotary kilns. It looks like they are externally heated by electric heaters.

Thinking about the three testing phases:
Phase 1 is designed to demonstrate that they can remove the calcium and magnesium “up front.” Successful completion means the acid plant really can be eliminated and the remaining processing equipment gets smaller. Scott’s anticipated reduction in CAPEX and OPEX become real.

We don’t know about REE extraction and refining until they finish phase 3. But that is an SX process. This is not new, different, or revolutionary. Scott and his team and L3 have lots of experience and knowledge of this. Scott has already predicted that their percent recover and purity for REEs will be similar to what they have achieved on Sc in the past.
