Interesting. Typically higher density residential zoning will require more local governmental services. For example, in Newark, CA it's about $13.5k/yr to edumicate ( wink ) the K-12 kids. Then there's fire, police, public works, etc...

Seems like commercial zoning would be least costly for local gubmints but I haven't really studied the issue that much...
