Boron used as a battery, genius!

“A hybrid structure consisting of boron-doped porous carbon spheres and graphene (BPCS-G) has been designed and synthesized toward solving the polysulfide-shuttle problem, which is the most critical issue of current Li-S batteries. The proposed hybrid structure showing the high surface area (870 m2·g-1) and high B-dopant content (6.51 wt.%) simultaneously offers both physical confinement and chemical absorption of polysulfides.”

Carbon is taking over the world. (my evil inserted here)

Oxygen Doped Boron batteries.
In this state of bonding, the boron bonds equally and leaves one free electron. But usually we read up on how boron helps stabilize the energy of the Lithium element, for a non reactive storage of potential energy.

I couldn’t understand the Oxygen doping until I started looking into stoichometry. It’s a simple chemical equation, but one to take note of B2O3. Oxygen heavy.

Hydrogen is this batteries worst nightmare, the smallest itty bitty leak and these batteries are dead in the water. Wasn’t trying to make a joke of it, but the Hydrogen will pull the Oxygen from the Boron and start creating humidity in the battery and Boron can’t afford moisture present. The Boron will get weak quick, and then it becomes a paper weight.

It is a great idea never would have guessed Boron as the main potential of energy but it makes sense.

Hope all of this makes sense.
