Time to Grow

“Dear brothers and sisters, when I was with you, I couldn’t talk to you as I would to people who have the Spirit. I had to talk as though you belonged to this world, or as though you were infants in Christ. I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready, for you are still controlled by your sinful nature.” ~ 1 Corinthians 3:1-3

God didn’t save us just to go occasional to church and “get our Jesus on”. He saved us to make us disciples of Christ and to take the Gospel message to the lost world. The only way to become the mature Christians in order to fulfill God’s desire for our lives is to get into His Word and develop a personal relationship with Him. In order for any relationship to grow and mature, we must maintain constant communication – a relationship without continual healthy communication will soon cease.

It is way past time for some to get off the infant food of your spiritual relationship with the Lord, and mature into the Christ-follower that God desires us to be. Remember, its not about us or how we feel – it’s about God’s plan to reach lost souls through us for His kingdom-building.

A few suggestions on “How to Grow”:

Get into the Word of God (the Bible) daily:

YouVersion is a great place to start, as it has daily reading plans for any topic that you are led to understand more about. Weekly, or daily Bible study groups with like-minded believers is another great way, plus with a small group the Spirit is able to bring-forth other spiritual food for the whole group to digest.

Learn to communicate with the Lord continually:

God’s Spirit lives inside each truly saved believer in Christ – that’s closer than we actually consider God to be to us. Don’t just talk to the Lord, but be still and quiet, and listen for His voice to speak to you; He will – if you sincerely wish to hear what He desires to share with you.

Get into the habit of just spending time with the Lord, and soon you will be on your way to maturing into the Christ-follower that you were saved to become.
