OT My global 2 cents worth since there is nothing to talk about in Cytogenix land...

Yes, there may be a warming going on here but our impact on the situation is quite miniscule i think. Our planet has been through many cycles of the freezing and thawing, icecaps and glaciers forming and then melting, sea levels 10's feet lower and higher, polarity changes, etc. We have been here only a plip of a second in geological time and we, humans, will be gone either by our own accord or by a catastrophic natural event that we have no power to influence or alter.
Humankind will at some point or another probably destroy the earth as we know it, a major or total die off of humans along with a major die off of many species will occur, but the earth will recover in a few million years and house other species that may or may not destroy their enviroment with their social impacts on the earth. We will follow the laws of sociology by surpassing the limits of the environment set forth for us and then regressing to the point of susatining just like those moose or elk on that island I read about in highschool. We are a cagy bunch, we humans, and we will continue to inovate and create ways to live on our great blue planet for many years. Many generations from now however, we will hit that population threashold that will not be able to be supproted by our environment. There will be ugly days then as there will probably be many ugly days along the way. War, civil strife, volcanoes, hurricanes, etc. It's just life. In the good old USofA there is a good life for most of us. We continue to be the largest consumer society and it ain't gonna change. Social "comfortablility", for lack of a better word that just won't come to me now. We may acknowledge that we should live a little more like the Native American but are not willing to do without the conveniences of today. Or we may think that we will come up with our own solutions to our impact on the earth or environment. In either case we will someday reach a population threashold.
