It's just a way to have fun while killing time.
A grub is any post number that resembles a poker hand.
Most people consider a picket fence grub the best of all.
Like ((( 11111 ))), or five aces.
A straight is another good one, like ((( 12345 ))).
A palindrome grub is one that reads the same backwards and forwards, like ((( 12321 ))).
There was a big discussion of the grubbing rules a while back but I can't remember what board it was on.
According to the rules of grubbing, you can't post in sequence leading up to the grub, and you can't post to yourself.
Another rule is that you can't post only to get the grub.
An honest/legal grub has to be an on topic reply to a poster other than yourself.
Someone that steals one breaks one of those rules.
