If this is accurate, then it’s even more of a genius play than I thought at announcement.

Listen to the broker info about how APE is a preferred stock (at:
) and it will NOT have shorting or an options chain available; only the original common stock AMC will be shortable or have an options chain after 22 Aug.

Now if it’s expected that up to half the value of the common stock will split off on ex-dividend date similar to a 1 for 1 split (per AA’s warning of expected AMC decline of exdividend day 22 Aug). So APE worth 50% and AMC worth 50% of value at close of 19 Aug as an example. If that’s how this plays out then AA just removed half the market cap and slid it over to be protected under APE in an un-shortable and no option-chain fukery-shielded format.

Put another way, common stock has shorting and options problems, so you create preferred stock, offer it as a dividend, split the value of market cap with the new company preferred stock in whatever ratio, and reduce the ratio’s exposure of the market cap to the “bad guys”!

If the shorts aren’t closed by date of record thru AMC common stock buys-to-close, then they would have to wait for the 22nd of Aug, have to purchase the APEs after exdividend to deliver to the lender and continue their position, and that’s just to survive the dividend issuance. That continues their horrible short position and kicks the can down the road continuing their interest payments into increasing conditions. And then… up to half the value of the company is now shielded by no shorting nor options, only the remaining common stock after 22 Aug.

OK, I’m ready for it… aside from the answer “blatant crime and corruption” (that will be dealt with in due time), what other loopholes am I missing?

I'm just having one of those boring, what-if, kinda Saturday's waiting for Monday...can ya tell? LOL!
