No, not the point. The rich can afford tax attorneys and find loopholes. The poor and middle class cannot. Even if you are right the cost to defend yourself is more than fees and penalties and they know most will just pay it. If you want no cheating just make the tax law based on what you spend or a flat tax with no deductions. Many cheaters are small retail that fail to ring up purchases. What are you going to do have someone spy on them. People will cheat. Just look at how many politicians get stock information early and trade or have family trade on it. Look at how brokerages cheat front running and skimming off each trade. Look at how short use naked shorting and fail to deliver. Hiding trades in dark pools. The SEC allows this garbage to continue.
