Not for cocoon size. They want to make more money than what they would make by growing mundane silk. That will be done because spidersilk will bring a much higher price. The size of cocoons for spider silk would probably be smaller due to spidersilk being a finer thread. 2-10 times smaller diameter. If cocoons were same size the length of the spidersilk thread would be 4-10 times longer than mundane silk.

If spidersilk is bringing 4 times the price of mundane silk the weight of the cocoon would only have be 1/4 of what a normal silk cocoon is to break even.
