With all due respect, I am not going to get in a conversation about cultural and historical resources law on this board. My experience browsing this board yesterday doesn't suggest that it would be a productive conversation. I've been on the web for a long time, and the anonymity of the internet typically doesn't provide for polite or professional discussions.

My purpose in posting wasn't to have that kind of conversation, anyway. I just wanted to clear up an unfounded and irresponsible rumor. Whether anyone here believes me or not doesn't matter too much to me - I've stated the truth, do what you will (or will not) with it. Believe it or not, I wanted to be helpful. For the folks speculating, sure. But also for the people I worked with who have to deal with the rumor machine. It's not good for anyone to operate with bad information.

During my time at DHR I was open to speaking with anyone about the 1A-31 program. I responded to many questions about the program over the years, even though it was a small part of my job. I was always an open book because everything I've done in my previous position is open to public inspection. As best I can tell, folks on this board already have just about everything related to these permits that's out there to have.

The last thing I'll say before signing off of here permanently is that I always insisted that everyone follow the laws, rules, and regs in all of the programs that were under my oversight. Sometimes that didn't make me popular, but it kept everyone accountable. I don't really have a position on this matter beyond that. You'll probably notice that a lot of statements posted around the online universe credited to me aren't backed up with documents (e.g. "Parsons said that..."). That should speak for itself. Don't believe everything you read, fellas.
