Marketing to a small demographic will yield small returns. Why leave out a portion of the market? According to The United States Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration the average U.S. driver drives 39 miles per day. If the car structurally is not highway compatible then 50 mph is understood. But if it is structurally adequate for the highway, then another 10 mph would be a benefit. Even to the metro drivers, in case they have to hop over to the next metro area for some reason. It's not as if 50 mph ever has to be exceeded on the city streets.
