Good morning. All is well down here.

Take it easy out there and watch for critter holes.

I had an orchid emergency the other day... actually it turned out to be orchidcide. A fifteen-foot-high Arica palm died from a fungus and the trunk fell. It managed to fall right on my most exotic orchid. It broke the lightweight chain that came with the hanging basket and knocked the orchid right into the canal.

This one:

I saw the carnage it in my morning rounds and also saw that the orchid was caught up against a tree limb, but underwater, I fished it out. It was all beat up and broken. I figured it was a goner (salt water) but cleaned it up and repotted it. Within a day, it was obvious it was not going to make it.

Today I'm heading out on a mission to find a similar replacement. I'll check at some of the high-end garden shops (this isn't a Home Depot grade), and I also remembered there's a large orchid farm just 3 miles from me:

So I'll try there first. Wish me luck.
