Airports across Europe have been struggling to cope with staff shortages and the influx of tourists this summer. Flight delays, serpentine queues and baggage confusion have been regular fixtures at airports in the UK, Italy, Amsterdam and more. Now, London’s Heathrow Airport has announced that they will be limiting passenger traffic to 100,000 departures per day and have asked airlines to stop selling summer tickets. The passenger limit has been introduced with immediate effect and will remain in place until 11 September.
