Just an FYI: There are ways for Private companies to raise money also.
They have been raising money for at least 12 yrs. that I have found.
Just saying that your premise is not correct.

True Long: I don't have the time to be active, or I screwed up.
Nothing honorable about holding a stock you think will fall.
