The best seller you linked to is a two year old CPU that fits into a five year old AM4 socket.

Keeping the same socket for more than one generation is something Intel has promised they will do going forward. Just be glad Intel has the AMD model to copy.

Not sure what algo the retailers are using. Any search of top 10-20 x86 cpu shows AMD is the winner for those who build their own systems.

Intel sells components to OEM computer builder/ retailers. Intel also markets their components as if the boxes were all about Intel Inside. They get away with marketing that way cause they are a near monopoly. I'm sure you are aware of their marketing history. ding ding ding ding
