I remember having to memorize the Baltimore Catechism in 2nd grade. A few years later I was memorizing Latin for my tour of duty as an altar boy. I would sometimes apply a little pressure with the crumb catcher to my friends' necks during Communion. Then as now a playful mfr. The priest noticed and afterwards suggested I ease up. We're out there to consecrate not decapitate. Those memory muscles enabled me to later memorize the Declaration of Independence....lonnnnng train of abuses.......and the Gettysburg Address. The nuns were sticklers on memorization.
