Gordon and representatives of H3Enterprises unveiled the drink to the media at One Sixty Blue, an upscale restaurant on West Randolph co-owned by Michael Jordan.

Gordon emphasized that the drink is made with white tea, which backers of the product insist has 500 percent more antioxidants and polyphenols than green tea.

"It's a great opportunity,'' Gordon said. "I'm going to be one of the first athletes to have their own energy drink. I try to make sure anything I put into my body is healthy.''

It's no secret the popularity of Red Bull took off once people began mixing it with vodka. Given that Gordon described BG7 as having a lime-like taste, he was asked if gin drinkers were a target.

"I don't drink, so I'll have a few of my old college buddies test it out and see what they think,'' Gordon said. "I'll be really excited if I see my BG7 in some of the clubs of Chicago. That means I made it big. Hopefully, I can get that going.'
