If you’re inclined to buy a basket of biotech stocks, I suggest the HQL closed-end fund, which is currently trading at an 8% discount to NAV:



Without commenting on whether the fund may or may not be a good choice for an individual, I think it is important to note that HQL is primarily (much) lower beta and higher cap as compared to XBI. It also has a higher management fee. Discount to NAV can remain for a very long time.

The top 10 holdings of HQL make up (roughly) 50% of the holdings. If one was inclined it would be simple to to duplicate that portion of the holdings (which has both advantages and disadvantages.) Or one could use those holdings as a "shopping list" for an even more concentrated portfolio.
