Wow! UAMA really screwed up wireless!
Bought market ready RuralCom with roaming agreements and network already launched and operational. The untold truth is RuralCom CEO had financing term sheets and it was planned to be fully operational in months, which is the reason Investel sought to acquire it. Laliberte erred when he fired RuralCom CEO thinking he (he Benoit Laliberte the convicted criminal) could simply pick up the term sheets and capture the financing. Record shows the potential investors showed him the door.
In no time network failed, roaming agreements failed to get tested (a requirement) and by 2018 it was all over. Laliberte and Trevor-Deutsch tried to impress the CRTC thinking they could claim that Wi-Fi would form home network and failed miserably and that was the end of both the wireless initiative and iPCS. Clearly, neither Laliberte or Trevor-Deutsch know anything about how the wireless industry works and their own incompetence killed what could have been a rural cellular carrier earning $40-60M in revenue with 40-60% EBITDA today.
What a difference that would have made to stock values!
