If that were true the SEC wouldn’t be charging so many promoters with running pumps and dumps. They are psychological games that do indeed influence naive investors to buy a stock. Scammers like DeLarge/Gallagher, Big Money Mike and OCMillionaire did it for YEARS. They play on peoples emotions that do “force” people to buy stocks. That’s how they make their money.
And the SEC has been addressing FOMO stocks recently as well. Trying to educate people not to buy when that is rampart.

Telling people it’s there own fault and they didn’t make them push the buy button is merely a way to excuse the promoters doing it from guilt - if they ever even experience that.
