I hate to draw attention to attention seekers; however, it's also nice to provide other views. I would also like to offer counterpoints to Tim's often made point that there is no large-scale Scandium market and infers there can not be one. Mr. Worstall is always quick to point out he is one of, if not the world's leading expert on the Scandium market due to his failed attempts to sell Scandium as the world's only middleman reselling Scandium. As the story goes, he was in Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union, looking for ways to capitalize on their demise, when he happened to run across a frustrated Scandium salesperson. The latter enlightened Tim of the virtues of Scandium. Tim then tried to sell Scandium on the market for the next few years with little success. In interviews, Tim claims his failures were either because he was selling a product no one wanted or that his monopoly didn't help him since Scandium was so plentiful. It is no surprise that a lone wolf could not develop a market for a forward-looking product that can be used for so many innovating applications, from doping battery anodes and cathodes to revolutionizing the airline industry by making aluminum weldable. Scandium has suffered from a chicken and egg situation where the market needs a reliable supply to adopt the product. Still, the product requires a dedicated market to develop to justify production. This is why giants like Rio Tinto and Traxys are now working to create both the supply and expand markets for Scandium. Remember Traxys has secured 10% of all of the Scandium NioCorp will produce with an option to acquire more. I have to believe that Rio Tinto and Traxys have a far better chance at success than a single guy who tried to capitalize on a forward-looking product 30 years ago. A lot has changed with technology and the world since the 90s.
