That would be called manipulation and against FINRA rules for market makers. In addition, there is no incentive and/or advantage to market makers to keep the price low. Market makers make their money on trading volume. The greater the trading volume, the more they make. If anything, a market maker would want to see interest and an upward movement of SP, as an indicator and incentive for buyers to enter the market, Traders/investors do not buy stocks that are weak and in a downtrend.
Just another fairytale about MM's wanting to keep SP down. Obviously, someone with a good amount of shares wanted out.
The real question, after GIFX became current, is WHY?? Not a good sign.
