gfp: No doubt that precious metals have been a disappointment for at least 18 months now. But they can't suppress the metals forever. At some point they are going to need gold to backstop whatever world monetary system that arises after the Dollar's demise. If we go to a bi-polar system, one where the Asian+Russian bloc backs their trading currency to gold or commodities plus gold, then the Western alliance will have to follow suite if if wants to retain the Dollar and the Euro and the Yen as viable players in the world's economy. Lots of brinksmanship is going on. I still can;t figure out the current Chinese lock downs. They are much more severe than when Covid was more prevalent and more lethal. Something else is going on over there. We may never know.
