I've read it, I've agreed with it, and like I said, it's a dated article. Why do you keep overlooking the helicopters that we KNOW have been sent, and what does that entail for fuck sakes?
GROUND SUPPORT
I personally am licenced to fly a fixed wing single engine aircraft. I received my private pilot's license in the late 80s with an IFR designation so I may fly at night or land/depart under rules that require instruments to do so.
I checked into flying helicopters back in the day. The hourly rate to learn to fly a helicopter is outrageous. It's that way because a helicopter costs an order of magnitude more to fly the same time/distance in maintenance costs.
Helicopters in my mind are easy to destroy. We've all seen the videos. They aren't very effective in combat comparatively, and their uses are more in line with troop missions, particularly extraction from war zones.
Again, Ukraine is moving to offence. Let's not get our brains stuck to a single past truth with regard to the implementation of offensive measures, ok? 'Nuf said I think?
