They hold the shares we own, they don't own them.

They basically own all the stock for all companies (OTC, Nasdaq, Dow Jones, etc). In the past, individual investors would have a hard copy stock certificate after purchasing shares. Now we have a digital fingerprint that we own the stock, while Cede actually has the certificates. So all the shares you own in LIGA or another ticker, is technically owned by Cede. Your shares are part of that 88%.
