1451 ET - Natural gas prices finish 6.4% higher at $7.954/mmBtu, the highest closing price since Aug. 28, 2008 as more and more long-term investors enter the market on expectations of growing demand for US liquefied natural gas. Some short-term fundamental issues are also giving a boost to prices, with traders saying some late-season, gas production freeze-offs in the far northern parts of the US due to a snowstorm provided a bullish surprise to US gas output levels. Also, weather patterns are heating up this weekend in the middle part of the country, which should provide some pre-summer cooling demand. The Weather Channel says temperatures in Dallas could hit the upper 90s on Sunday. (dan.molinski@wsj.com)
